Portrait of a Little Girl
1878 Oil on canvas
89.5 x 129.8 cm
National Gallery of Art, Washington
This picture is an example of emotionalism. Around the time this picture was painted many people were moving inot the united states. The little girl in the chair could be waiting for someone to play with, or for others to come.
I got this picture from...http://www.artchive.com/artchive/C/cassatt/cassatt_little_girl.jpg.html
I think that this picture is a very good example of form. The form in this painting makes the chair that the girl is sitting in come alive. Normally sculpters use form but is it also very common in paintings. Also it almost looks like the legs og the girl are lifting off the page and the chair.
